Senior Engineer – Switching Products

Company: Phoenix Telecom Solutions

 Position: Senior Engineer – Switching

 Location: Raleigh Durham NC (RTP)

Phoenix Telecom Solutions a fast growing global telecommunications company with offices in CA, NC, Brazil and The Netherlands and is searching for an experienced Senior Switch Engineer in our RTP facility.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Select or design and develop suitable testing systems and techniques for switching products Nortel, Lucent and others including complete instructions, documentation, and software. 
  • Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers, Designers, and other Test Engineers to define Test Strategy for new products, and drive enhancement of existing test processes as required. 
  • Perform first solution testing in the SIF environment
  • Hold or participate in weekly reviews of test yield and defect results to monitor effectiveness of the test process, with the objective of driving continuous test improvement.   
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering) and external teams, (Integrators, or Repair partners), to drive RCA of product performance issues and determine the appropriate corrective and preventive measures to minimize customer exposure. 

Qualifications:                             

  • Strong background and experience in  Test Engineering and Test S/W Development
  • Experience developing, and/or directing the development of test applications at all levels of testing, including AOI, X-Ray, ICT, Functional, and System level. 
  • A team player and collaborator – ability to work across operations, hardware and software design, and contract manufacturers and integrators.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction and Lifecycle Management processes.
  • Strong, results-oriented project scheduling and time management skills – ability to provide coaching and direction to more junior team members.
  • Resourceful, with ability to work independently and under tight timelines

Must be a self-starter, able to accomplish goals with minimum direct supervision.  Must be effective in prioritizing activities and assigning tasks that enable the team to meet expectations.  Must demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills.  Must have the ability to know when and how to delegate tasks and when to step in to personally complete tasks.  Negotiation skills highly desirable.
